Police launch drugs search at high school

Pupils at a school were searched by police following reports of drug taking.

Officers were called to Braes High in Reddingmuirhead on after several rports had been received.

Police confirmed a number of searches had taken place but no drugs were found.

A spokeswoman said: “We will continue to work closely with our partners. This should send out a clear message that drug taking will not be tolerated.

“Community officers have also been delivering drugs education talks to pupils at the school at the request of the head teacher.”

Head teacher Helen McCulloch said: “We were happy to assist with a police investigation at the school and this was done with the health and safety of our pupils in mind.

“No pupils were found to have any illegal substances within the school and no further action was taken. A number of cigarettes were found on underage pupils and these were confiscated.”
