Officers get on their bikes

Pedal power will help police protect people in hospital grounds.

Two community officers based at Forth Valley Royal Hospital now have bicycles to help them patrol the area around the building.

They have been stationed in the hospital for over a year providing support and reassurance to staff, patients and visitors. Now they will extend their role to those who use the hospital grounds, mainly for walking.

Constable Walter Robb said: “We are keen to be seen and be more accessible to all who work or visit Forth Valley Royal and our bikes allow us to do that.”

His colleague Constable Steven Dodds said: “Over the past year we have seen just how big an establishment the hospital is and how busy it can be with visitors.”
