Objections to Stenhousemuir traffic plans

Councillors want information on other one-way systems

Councillors want information on other one-way systems

Plans to bring a one-way traffic lane to a Stenhousemuir caused confusion last week.

Falkirk Council officials want to introduce the scheme in Lido Lane - with only buses and cyclists allowed - to keep residents and children safe from increasing traffic using the streets as a rat run.

However, councillors at a recent planning committee heard 54 people had objected to the plan, including a local taxi company.

Director of development services Rhona Geisler explained that allowing taxis to use the lane may confuse other motorists.

Councillors have asked officials to give them more information about one-way rules in place in other parts of Falkirk, and the plan will come back before the board later.
