The two new motorway slip roads serving Forth Valley Royal Hospital have opened.

The £2.8m Glenbervie project means vehicles now have direct access to the M876 from the A9 in Larbert to and from Edinburgh in the east and Glasgow in the west.

Previously drivers going to or from Edinburgh had an extra 5½-mile journey along the A88/A905 via Bowtrees at junction 3 of the M876.

As well as improving access to the hospital, the new roads will also businesses located in the area or those who may choose to site there in the future.

Falkirk Council leader Craig Martin said: “This will undoubtedly bring many benefits to the area in terms of the economy, environment and tourism.

“There are also a number of new road safety measures being introduced on the A9 thanks to the project including a new footway, pedestrian crossing and an extension of the 40mph speed limit on the north side.”
