Multi-million pound contracts won by bus-builder
Alexander Dennis is at the forefront of green bus technology
Bus-builder Alexander Dennis has secured new orders worth £220 million.
The Camelon-based firm today announced it had secured deals to provide 1000 new vehicles, all of which will be delivered in the next 18 months.
More than half of them - 530 of the new Enviro500 which can carry 135 passengers – are destined for the Hong Kong market.
In the UK, 150 advance orders have already been placed for ADL’s next generation hybrid-electric bus, which is expected to reduce fuel consumption and emissions by a further 8-10 per cent.
Colin Robertson, ADL’s chief executive, commented: “These orders represent a vote of confidence in our business and our ability to deliver lighter, more fuel-efficient buses, designed specifically to meet the different demands of operators around the world.
‘‘Our customers have played a vital role in this process and will reap the benefits of a collaborative approach.”
Local MSP Michael Matheson said: ‘‘This is fantastic news for the company and the workforce.
‘‘They are world leader in their field and this is a massive vote of confidence in the environmentally friendly buses they have developed over the last few years.”
