Man arrested after child ‘approached’ in street

A man was arrested following an incident involving a young child.

The youngster was allegedly approached by the man last Saturday, August 11 in Church Street, Stenhousemuir.

Police said they quickly traced and arrested a 46-year-old man, who does not live in the Stenhousemuir area, and a report has been submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in Falkirk.

Chief Inspector Gordon Taylor, Falkirk Deputy Area Commander said: “Clearly an incident like this heightens community concern. I would like to reassure the community of Stenhousemuir, Larbert and the wider Falkirk Council area that Central Scotland Police treats this type of incident seriously.

“We acted swiftly to identify the man involved and this area remains a safe place to live.

“This is an opportunity, however, to remind parents to ensure their children know how to remain safe. Should anyone have concerns, then these should be reported to the Police at the time and Officers will respond.”
