Jumping out of a plane 10,000 feet is a terrifying thought for most people.

But for Gayle Chirray, a social care worker from Brightons now living in Grangemouth, it was “amazing”.

The 24-year-old performed a sky dive at Strathallan Airfield in Auchterarder and raised £3200 for Strathcarron Hospice in memory of her uncle Russell Porter.

Gayle said: “The sky dive was amazing. Words just cannot describe the feeling. The freefall of about 30 seconds was terrifying but, after the parachute was pulled, it was great. I just relaxed and enjoyed the view.

“It was all done in memory of my uncle who sadly passed away in Strathcarron in April. It was also to acknowledge the great care and attention shown to him and the family by everyone at the hospice.”

Gayle raised a total of £2538 from the sky dive and the rest was raised through a charity and a presentation night, raffle, Gift Aid and sponsor money. Gayle would like to thank CB Installation, Finishing Touch, Ebony Joiners and family members who all made substantial donations.
