Force considering closing stations in Falkirk area

THE future of neighbourhood cop shops hang in the balance.

Central Scotland Police is currently looking at ways of cutting costs and the closure of some smaller offices is one of the options to reduce

spending.

However, claims that officers were already being moved out of Maddiston and Bo'ness to be relocated in Grangemouth police station have been denied by the force this week.

Last August, while still awaiting details of exactly how much cash they

would have to spend in the 2011/2012 financial year, a paper was presented to the Joint Police Board looking at ways of trimming costs.

One of the options being looked at was the closure of 11 smaller offices to save a total of 185,000 annually.
