Falkirk residents warned over PPI scam

Central Scotland Police are warning residents to be vigilant of phone scams

Central Scotland Police are warning residents to be vigilant of phone scams

Police are warning residents in the Falkirk district to be wary of a telephone scam.

Fraudsters have been cold-calling individuals in the Falkirk and Braes areas in the past few weeks claiming to represent legitimate PPI companies and asking for up-front payment for their services.

The con artists ask to be paid £300 in UKASH vouchers, a form of payment that is impossible to recover once processed.

A spokesman for Central Scotland Police said that no legitimate PPI company should ask for payment before they have carried out their service and residents should not enter into negotiation with these fraudsters.
