Falkirk is top for shops

SHOPPERS are hitting the High Street to make Falkirk the top retail town in Scotland.

New statistics show that it has leapt up the rankings by attracting more and more people who are spending their money in its stores.

The latest CACI retail analysis places Falkirk in seventh place overall,

just behind four cities and two major shopping malls – Glasgow, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Dundee, Silver-burn and Braehead.

It has risen from 15th last year to beat such popular shopping centres as Stirling, Livingston and Fort Kinnaird.

Falkirk's popularity is put down to having a strong mix of national and independent retail operators which attract shoppers.

Now Falkirk Council and the town's Business Improvement District (BID)

have commissioned CACI to provide detailed analysis which they can use to encourage other retailers to locate in the town.
