Falkirk gets ready for fireworks spectacular

Monday's event will begin with live music

Falkirk’s annual fireworks display will take place in Callendar Park on Monday night.

The free event begins with live music at 6.30 p.m. from Sing Forth Choir, Puff Uproar and The Kicks.

A lantern parade will take place at 6.45 p.m., and the fireworks display will begin at 7.30 p.m.

Organisers are asking those attending to not bring their own sparklers, to wear appropriate clothing, to leave pets at home and ensure that all children are accompanied at all times by an adult.

Free parking will be provided from 6-9 p.m. at Kemper Avenue car park, Williamson Street, Callendar Business Park and Graeme High School.

Parking facilities in Callendar Park are only available to vehicles displaying a valid residents permit or official disabled persons badge.

Meanwhile, the message from the police and fire services – preparing for what could be one of their busiest evenings of the year – is that bonfire night should be a family-friendly occasion, not an excuse for anti-social behaviour.

In conjunction with Falkirk Council, the authorities are running the annual Operation Alamo, which aims to clamp down on anti-social behaviour in the days running up to November 5.

Chief Superintendent Davie Flynn said: “We are not trying to stop anybody’s fun, but we do want people to enjoy Bonfire Night in a safe manner without impacting on the quality of other people’s lives.”
