Falkirk exam results show improvements
PUPILS are top of the class as results show more are passing exams.
Classroom improvements are being applauded by education chiefs who believe Falkirk Council's schools have finally shaken off their 'could do better' tag.
This week, praise was poured on youngsters for their achievements and to the teachers and staff who supported their efforts.
Director of education Julia Swan congratulated everyone and said: "Credit where it's due, this is a tremendous result for all those involved."
New figures reveal that 25 per cent of pupils in local secondary schools achieved three or more Highers by the end of S5 – a rise of four per cent in 12 months and eight per cent up on three years ago.
Pupils at two high schools showed particularly marked improvements in exam results with a 12 per cent jump to 28 per cent at Falkirk and nine per cent increase at Larbert to 34 per cent for those gaining three Higher grades.
The statistics come just six years after a damning report by HM Inspectors of Education into Falkirk Council's role as an education authority.
