Things are hotting up in the kitchens at Forth Valley College.

Students are preparing for this year’s Devil’s Kitchen event which will see two teams of hospitality students battle it out in a competition based on popular TV show ‘Hells Kitchen’.

Now in its fifth year, the competition will take place in the Training Restaurant at the College’s Middlefield Building in Falkirk on the evening of Friday, March 9.

The reds and the blues will be tasked with preparing and serving a three-course meal to 120 hungry diners.

Teams will comprise 16 students, with eight in the kitchen and eight serving in the restaurant, and they will be led by hospitality lecturers Mandy Fraser and Scott Dougall.

The guests have the opportunity to watch the live action from the kitchen via screens set up in the restaurant before being asked to judge the teams. Marks are given for the presentation and quality of the food and also the service they receive.

Aiveen McAllister, the college’s hospitality department curriculum quality leader, said: “We are very excited about this year’s Devil’s Kitchen.

“It will be a scorching evening of fracas and fricassee as our chefs go head-to-head.

“There are still some tickets left so if anyone would like to come along for an evening of fun and fine food, then just give us a call.”

Tickets for the event are £32.50 and include a complimentary refreshment on arrival, a three-course meal with coffee and the chance to win some superb raffle prizes.

The first seating on the night is from 6.30 p.m. and the last one is at 8 p.m.

All money raised will be split between CHAS and Strathcarron Hospice.
