Denny blaze sparks flat evacuation

Residents were evacuated from a block of flats last night after a fire broke out in a fourth-floor bedroom.

Officers from Central Scotland Fire and Rescue Service were called to the building in Overton Crescent, Denny, at 11.08 p.m. on Sunday.

Three appliances from the Denny, Larbert and Falkirk stations attended the incident.

The residents of the flat had already evacuated by the time the brigade arrived, meaning that no rescue was necessary.

There were no reported injuries and officers had left the scene just after 2 a.m. today.
