Tributes have been paid to a Tesco baker who died on his way to work.
Alastair Dudgeon was cycling to the Camelon store on Sunday to begin his early morning shift when the tragedy occurred.
He was in a collision with a black Vauxhall Astra around 2 a.m. as he rode his bicycle on the A985 Kincardine by-pass.
He was rushed to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert, but died from his injuries.
On Wednesday, his heartbroken wife paid tribute to the “larger then life” character, who was devoted to his family.
A father-of-two, and stepdad of three, Alastair (51) had worked for more than 30 years with Tesco, moving from the Stirling store to Camelon after it opened last year.
He was described as a well-known and popular person by communities in Bannockburn and Cowie, and had recently moved to High Valleyfield in Fife, the hometown of his wife Patricia and family.
She said: “Ali was a much-loved husband, father, stepfather and a devoted grandfather.
“His loss is a devastating blow that will be heartfelt by everyone who knew his larger than life personality and unique sense of humour.”
Scott Honeyman, manager of the Tesco Camelon store, said: “Alastair was a happy, popular and long-standing colleague who will be sorely missed by everyone at the store. Our thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.”
Away from work, Alastair played golf and supported Rangers FC.
Witnesses to the tragic incident are still being sought by police.
Inspector Brenda Sinclair, deputy head of Fife’s road policing unit, said: “We are investigating the cause of this crash and I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the black Vauxhall Astra or the pedal cycle, or the immediate aftermath, or anyone who was in this area about 2 a.m. on Sunday to contact the police on 0845 6005702.”
