Court disrupted as major power cut hits Camelon

Scottish Power has apologised for the blackout

Scottish Power has apologised for the blackout

Hundreds of homes and businesses in west Falkirk and Camelon were left without power this afternoon.

The blackout began around 12.20 p.m. with power being restored an hour later.

Proceedings were interrupted at Falkirk Sheriff Court and the building was temporarily evacuated due to the blackout, while classes at Falkirk High School had to make do without power for over an hour.

Residents in the high rise flats near Lock 16, Camelon, were forced to use the stairs after the lifts in the buildings failed.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Power said there had been a problem with the Camelon substation, which had now been resolved.

She added: “We apologise to customers for this inconvenience.”
