Carronshore parents are angry paedophile was allowed to move in

Residents are reeling that evil rapist Brian Dick was housed next to a park and lots of young children.

He was jailed last week after being found guilty at the High Court in Edinburgh of raping a ten-year-old girl.

After the allegations were made against him, Dick, who had been living in Maddiston, moved to North Main Street, Carronshore, where nobody knew of his past until it was reported in the media.

One resident, who didn’t wish to be named, said: “When I found out I was physically sick. I was in tears thinking a monster had been so close to my family.

“This is a nice street, why would he be housed here, right beside a park that children play in and lots of young families?

“What he did to that poor girl in Maddiston could easily have happened to a Carronshore youngster while he was living here because we were not warned.”

Falkirk Council was not aware of the accusations against the former lorry driver. When Dick bid on the two-bedroom house over a year ago, he won it after claiming he was trying to get custody of his young daughter.

Leader of Falkirk Council Craig Martin also lives on North Main Street and said he was just as shocked as everyone else when Dick was charged.

He said: “I have a nine-year-old daughter and so I’m outraged he was housed here. I understand he had pled not guilty and so the accusations at that time were not proven, but I think the council should still be told about things like this. It is a Scottish Government policy but something I want to take up - it’s better to be cautious and deal with matters like this sensitively than go on to regret it.”
