Campaigners feel the time is right for a historic clock to tick once more.
Falkirk East MSP Angus MacDonald and local Councillor David Balfour are calling for Grangemouth’s ‘Auld Toon’ clock to be removed from storage and given a prominent place in the town once more.
Councillor Joan Paterson has already been working behind the scenes on the campaign for a number of months.
The clock was originally part of the long since demolished structure in South Bridge Street which housed the Queen’s Hotel and the former Grangemouth police station.
It was dismantled years ago and is currently lying in pieces in storage provided by Falkirk Council.
Possible locations for the old clock and tower, should funding be received, include the former South Bridge Street site where the clock once stood or a centrepiece on the ‘basins’ roundabout at the entrance to the town centre and the Port of Grangemouth.
