Busy Falkirk road closed affecting bus routes

Drivers are being warned to expect traffic disruptions as a busy road in the heart of Falkirk closes for repairs.

Dalderse Avenue off Grahams Road is now closed to traffic for up to six weeks as Falkirk Council revise the junction, upgrade the surface and install new traffic lights and street lighting at a cost of £185,000.

The council says drivers should expect peak hour delays and disruption, especially during the first three weeks as the road will be shut from Grahams Road to Towers Court. A signed diversion is in place.

Throughout the six weeks there will be also temporary traffic signals in operation to control traffic on Grahams Road.

Bus routes are affected. First Bus service 13 will operate the normal route from Alexander Avenue as far as Bruce Street then divert via Wallace Street to Grahams Road to resume the normal route and vice versa.

Service 697 will operate the normal route to Bruce Street then divert via Wallace Street to Grahams Road and vice versa.

Service 186 will go its normal route to Thornhill Road then divert via Etna Road and the Northern Distributor Road to St Mungos High School.

The bus diversions are for three weeks, but the temporary traffic lights will be in operation for approximately six weeks.
