Police are appealing for witnesses to Saturday's accident

Police are appealing for witnesses to Saturday's accident

A biker was killed in a rush-hour motorway accident.

The horrific crash occurred around 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Just days earlier, an 85-year-old woman was left fighting for her life after being involved in a collision with a car on Main Street, Camelon.

Alan Brown (42), the rider of a black Triumph motorcycle died at the scene of Tuesday’s tea-time incident. He was travelling on the eastbound carriageway of the M9 between junction 7 and 8, close to the Kinnaird interchange.

His pillion passenger had a miracle escape, receiving only minor injuries. They were taken to hospital but later released.

Motorists faced huge tailbacks with the road closed for several hours following the accident as officers carried out a crash investigation.

The elderly woman remains in intensive care.

Ella Lemetti (85) is understood to have got off a bus from Edinburgh and was crossing the Main Street, at a point close to The Coppertop, to her nearby home when the accident occurred around 7.15 p.m.

The road was closed for several hours from the Beefeater roundabout to the roundabout at the top of Glasgow Road as police carried out an investigation.

Miss Lemetti was rushed to Forth Valley Royal Hospital where she underwent surgery. Her injuries include broken bones in both legs.

Although she is still in the Larbert hospital’s intensive care unit, her condition is said to be stable.

A police spokeswoman confirmed that a report on the incident would be sent to the Procurator Fiscal in Falkirk.

Police appealed for anyone who saw the bike with rider and pillion passenger prior to the collision on the M876 and M9 to contact them on (01786) 456000.
