Aldi plan a new convenience store for Camelon

Discount retailer Aldi has announced plans to open its first convenience store in Falkirk

The move will create around 20 jobs.

It will see the redevelopment of the former site of Johnston (Falkirk) Ltd, printers of The Falkirk Herald, in Redbrae Road, Camelon.

The new store will be adjacent to the Tesco supermarket which opened two months ago.

If the project receives planning permission, around half of the site would be used by Aldi for its store and 141 car parking spaces. On completion, the remaining area would be marketed by the company for further development.

See next Thursday’s Falkirk Herald for further information and reaction.
