A DJ who has been jetting between jobs in Los Angeles and London could end up spinning discs in outer space.

Nick Wolanski was the guest DJ at a private Virgin Galactic reception hosted by Sir Richard Branson last year.

And the 25-year-old former St Mungo’s High School pupil performed so well he put himself in the running for a ticket to ride on the millionaire’s commercial space flights when they eventually leave the launch pad.

Nick, from Grangemouth, said: “I have been asked to DJ at some future events for Sir Richard and work quite regularly with the Virgin Group. It was really inspiring meeting someone like him and I would love to be the first DJ in space.

“I’ve got a few projects on the go at the minute and I’m looking to do some work for charities.”

A resident DJ at Falkirk’s Voodoo Lounge, Nick regularly plays the ‘Vegas Baby’ nights at Pachas in London, and has played at the world-famous Ministry of Sound. When he is not laying down the beats on the beaches of Miami or soaking up the sun in LA, he also works as music producer and model.

Nick started DJ-ing at the age of 20 after he realised his first job was not working out.

“I was a firefighter, but making and playing music was always my first choice so I bought a set of decks and went from there.

“My girlfriend Emma is really my inspiration and she helps me out a lot with my music.”

The young music man comes from a family of real go-getters - his sister Miriam is a renowned pole fitness instructor and has clocked up a few air miles herself, flying over to South America last year to represent the UK in the pole fitness world championships.

Nick will be on his travels again later this year, playing at Pacha on March 2 and performing at the world’s biggest DJ gathering, the Ultra Music Conference, in Miami on March 26.
