Sunday’s sermon considered prayers and blessings, complemented by additional singing to the tune of “Edelweiss”. The Sunday School staff and children had a very successful outing last Saturday with bunjy jumping being part of the agenda, terrifying the watching mums. Presentation of gifts took place on Sunday, ending the present session. The Strawberry lunch followed in the hall and was voted a great success. Over £600 has been donated to the refurbishing fund. Thanks to all who contributed in any way. Guild rally takes place in Brightons Church today (Thursday) at 7.30 p.m The flowers for Sunday are being donated by Douglas and Sheila Marshall. On door duty are: Mrs M. Andrew, Mrs J. White, Mrs C. Park and Mrs S. Marshall.
Tickets for the outing to Carlisle on June 24, costing £10 can be obtained till Thursday’s coffee morning on June 19. The annual lunch with entertainment by Laurieston school choir takes place on Friday, June 13 in the Old Folks Hall. Admission is £4, and there will be a stall and a raffle. All are welcome.
A big thank you to Annfield Cleaning Services for the generous sponsorship of the Triples held in Laurieston Bowling Club on Saturday, May 24. The overall winners were W. Rae, M. Wilson and J. Peasley. Congratulations to the Rae family on their new arrival.
The preacher at the 3 p.m. Sunday Gospel meeting in the Cotton Lane Gospel Hall will be Mr Alex McCormack from Larkhall. Tea and biscuits will be served afterwards. Everyone is welcome.
Laurieston Spiritualist Church will have Fiona Boyle from Rutherglen as guest medium for its service in the Old Folks Welfare Hall in Mary Street on Monday. Doors open 6.45 p.m., service starts 7.30 p.m. Everyone welcome.
There is an evening walk every Wednesday. Just turn up at Laurieston Square for 7 p.m. and and enjoy a walk around the Helix south paths. Walks are led by experienced walk leaders and we suggest that suitable footwear and clothing be worn. For further details contact Ian Wright on (01324) 636799.
