Laurieston heart transplant patient backs donor campaign

With a new lease of life, heart transplant success story Georgina Burt has plenty of energy to talk about the merits of organ donation.

The 56-year-old from Laurieston was told just a few years ago that she only had a 10 per cent chance of survival after suffering from a serious heart illness.

But this Christmas, 11 years from the time she first becoming sick, the bubbly mum is backing The Falkirk Herald's campaign to urge people to sign-up to the Organ Donor Register and do their bit to save a life.

She said: "Without a new heart, I don't think I would be here right now.

"Organ donation is a brilliant thing. It's just amazing what they can do.

"I would say to everyone, please sign up to the register.

"There are so many people ready and waiting for a transplant."
