Ladies Forum

The new session will start in Age Concern Hall on September 23 at 2.30 p.m. This will be an open meeting to discuss the next session. New members welcome.

Larbert Old

You are warmly invited to the morning service in Larbert Old Church, at 11 a.m. on Sunday, September 21 led by Rev. John Brown. Children’s activities and a crèche will be provided in the hall, where tea and coffee will be available after the service. Carron Rotary

Vale of Carron Rotary Club President Jill Dewar welcomed members and a contingent of visitors from the Rotary Club of South Queensferry to the Plough Hotel, Stenhousemuir. After getting to know each other and exchanging ideas Vale of Carron members were encouraged to consider taking part in next year’s charity abseil down the Forth Rail Bridge. Following a delicious meal and one or two items of business the first round of the Rotary District 1020 Quiz took place under the direction of question master Ron Melville. South Queensferry ran out winners by 16 points to 15 after a close fought and enjoyable contest. Car Boot

The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. till noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. Tables are available for anyone wishing to make some money from unwanted items and all money raised benefits the Hall Trust. For hall and pitch bookings call (01324) 570450.

Al Anon

A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. The group also meets in Grahamston United Church, Falkirk, on Monday evenings at the same time. For a local contact number call 0141 339 8884.

North Broomage

Bingo continues on Monday, Thursday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. The club is available for hire to accommodate birthday parties, weddings etc and further information is available by calling the club after 6 p.m. on (01324) 552685.

East Playgroup

Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The playgroup is for children of two years, six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11 a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11 a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.

Badminton Club

The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday between 8.15-9 p.m.

Toddler Group

Toddlers, Tots and Twos meets at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue continues every Thursday. The facility is for 0-3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. It runs on Thursday mornings between 9.30-11 a.m. The cost is £1 per child and includes snacks. A warm welcome awaits and for further information call Alison on 07983 534424.

Aerobics Class

Ochilview Bar

Tonight (Thursday) the quiz goes on as usual in the lounge of the former Warriors Club at 8 p.m. Entry is £1 and winning team takes all. The ‘Play Your Cards Right’ game also features on the same evening.

Barbershop Singing

Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) when new members will be made most welcome. Buddhism Meeting

Practitioners of Nichiren Bhuddism meet once a month in the Rotary Hall, Larbert – next to the Dobbie Hall – and anyone with an interest is welcome to attend. Further information is available at www.sgi-uk.org.

Salvation Army

Stenhousemuir Salvation Army Community Church welcomes all. Meetings are as follows - Cornerstone Full Gospel Church Sunday Morning Worship from 10.30 a.m. to noon, led by Corps Sergeant-Major Stuart Shaw. Sunday Worship with the Salvation Army is from 2.30-3.30 p.m led by Majors John McCaffrey. Monday Home League will be led by Home League Secretary Margaret Ross from 1.55-3 p.m. Tuesdays - Headway Falkirk holds its Memory Group from 10-11 a.m. If you or a loved one seeking help from a problem related to head injury, please call Stuart on 07400 449433. Tryst Church

Tryst Community Church will meet in Tryst Community Centre, Park Drive, Stenhousemuir on Sunday, September 21 at 10 a.m. for Worship and Bible Teaching. The teaching will consider The Message of Zephaniah and will be led by guest speaker, David Andrew. This service will be followed by tea/coffee. We will also meet in the centre on Tuesday, September 23 at 8.15 p.m. for Prayer Time. You will be made very welcome at any of these services. Larbert Rotary

President Ronnie Laing welcomed members, visiting Rotarians from the Grangemouth and Linlithgow and Bo’ness clubs and guest John Mortimer to last Wednesday’s meeting at Carmuirs Golf Club. After dinner, several business matters were discussed and then the first round tie of the Rotary District Quiz took place. With Quizmaster Colin Mailer in the chair, the two clubs, Larbert and Linlithgow and Bo’ness went head to head in a battle of wits that saw the teams jostling for position by providing answers to some difficult and often obscure questions. After a closely fought tie, the Linlithgow team pulled away in the final round, ending up as worthy winners by 18 points to 10. After an enjoyable evening of fellowship, Martin Nicol gave the vote of thanks. Next week’s speaker is Stewart Comrie. Larbert West

The service on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. will be conducted by Rev. Dr Campbell Campbell-Jack. Creche and Sunday Club facilities for all children. Refreshments and fellowship in the hall after the service. Conversations with Campbell start at 11.45 a.m. in the church. From 4-6 p.m. there is a Messy Church service. This is suitable for everyone from 1 to 101, as individuals, families and friends and consists of a time of fun and games followed by a brief service of worship and culminating with a meal for all. All welcome to either or both services. On Tuesday the Guild meets at 7.30 p.m. in the lesser hall when Sandy Falconer will address his subject of International Nepal Fellowship. The Prayer Group meet on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the lesser hall, and the Kirk Session meet there at 7.30 p.m.

Old Playgroup

Larbert Old Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The Playgroup is for children from two years and upwards and runs on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.30-11.25 a.m. in Larbert Old Parish Church (Larbert Cross). Metafit Class

Larbert East

The Kirk Session is holding a Congregational Conference in the Church hall on Saturday, from 10 a.m. till noon when we will seek your views on the way forward for Larbert East Church over the coming years. Please come along, a crèche will be available and we will end with bacon rolls for lunch. On Sunday, the morning service at 10.30 a.m. will be led by Rev. Melville Crosthwaite. The Young Church meet in the halls before the service and crèche is held in the Session Room. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available in the hall following the service. The Traidcraft Stall will also be there. The Prayer Group meet in the Session Room on Tuesday at 6.30 p.m. A sale of children’s clothes is held in the Upper Room on a Thursday morning from 9.15-10.45 a.m. Enter through the church hall back door. Weekday Worship is held in the Church on a Thursday morning at 11.15 a.m. This is a short service and everyone is welcome.

Lodge Carron

On Wednesday, September 10 the lodge opened the season by conferring the Mark Master Mason degree on seven candidates. The mark team were in fine form showing a good balance of humour for the early part and decorum for the latter part of the degree. On Friday, September 19 the lodge will travel to Lodge Corkerhill 1426 and confer the Mark Master Mason degree. A bus has been organised, names to the secretary if you wish to travel.

Toddler Group

Looking for a fun, social activity to fill up your week with your wee one(s)? Come along to Larbert West Toddlers & Twos Group. The group is for 0-5 years and has a dedicated baby corner. It runs on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9.30-11.15 a.m. during term time, at Larbert West Church. Your wee one(s) will have some playmates and you can have a chat and a cup of tea or coffee. Stenhouse & Carron

The service on Sunday is at 11.15 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Bill Denholm. The Young Church (Sunday School) meet during the service and new members are always welcome. The popular Wednesday Welcome resumes in the hall on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. All are welcome to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the minister’s thought for the day.

Zumba Classes

Zumba with Carol at the Dobbie Hall on Thursdays, 7-8 p.m. and Sundays, 6-7 p.m. Also class at Carrongrange School on Tuesday, 7-8 p.m. Zumba Gold for older, active participants at 11-11.45 a.m. in the Dobbie Hall. Country Dancing

Get your body and mind in shape! The local RSCDS class meets in the Age Concern Hall, Larbert from 7.30-9 p.m. on a Monday night. Beginners please refer to our classes in the Laurieston section. Braveheart Walks

Lively walks in Larbert are full of friendly faces, who enjoy the scenery on serveral different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. we leave from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower walk (average 30 minutes) both finishing in the cafe afterwords. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30 minute (average) walk or brisker 1hr walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk.
