Our lively walks in Larbert are full of friendly faces, who enjoy the scenery on several different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. we leave from F.V.R.H. where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower walk (average 30 minutes) both finishing in the cafe afterwords. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30 minute (average) walk or brisker one hour walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk. Vale of Carron Rotary Club President Elect Ken Drummond PHF welcomed members to the weekly meeting at the Plough Hotel, Stenhousemuir. After a few items of business members enjoyed a delicious meal and fellowship. On Sunday a merry band clipped, trimmed and generally spruced up the Rotary Garden at Larbert Station – the annual Autumn Tidy. Local artist Campbell Barrowman has donated a large framed print of the West Beach, St. Andrews, to be raffled for Maggie’s, the charity that provides free practical, emotional and social support for people with cancer and their family and friends. Campbell has advanced prostate cancer and his wife Fiona and son are both regular users of Maggie’s in Edinburgh. This was Campbell’s way of giving something back for the support both he and his family have received as they understand the need and importance of the Maggie’s facilty coming to Forth Valley Hospital, projected opening date in 2015. Tickets, priced £1, will be available from Torwood Garden Centre this Saturday and Sunday (October 4 and 5) from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Tickets will also be available from the Clydesdale bank, Hallam Road, Stenhousemuir, where the draw will take place on Wednesday, December 3. Stenhousemuir Salvation Army Community Church welcomes all. Meetings are as follows: Cornerstone Full Gospel Church Sunday Morning Worship from 10.30 a.m. to noon led by Pastor Alex Paton. The Lodge will have a very busy October starting with a Master Mason degree on October 8 followed by an emergency meeting on October 15 when the business is an Entered Apprentice degree. Finally on October 22 we have a visit from Lodge Dufferin from Canada who will do an exemplification of the Fellowcraft degree.
The President welcomed everyone to the first meeting of the new session and then gave details of the events to follow during the year. The next meeting is on October 7 in the Age Concern Hall at 2.30 p.m. when we will be entertained by Sweet Harmony Barber Shop Singers. New members welcome.
Everyone is warmly welcome to the services this coming Sunday in Carrongrange School at 10.30 a.m. and also at 6 p.m. Please note that the evening service will be in Larbert Baptist Church and will be a dedication service for 5th Larbert BB Company. Grace Kids, for children of primary school age, meet during the morning service. Generate, for secondary school kids, meets in the Dawson Mission this Saturday at 7 p.m. The Prayer Meeting will be held in the Dawson Mission on Thursday at 7.45 p.m.
The Saturday Group meet this week at Torwood Garden Centre at noon. All who are looking for a blether and a bit of company are welcome to come along. The service on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. will be conducted by Rev. Dr Campbell Campbell-Jack. Creche and Sunday Club facilities for all children. Refreshments and fellowship in the hall after the service. Conversations with Campbell at 11.45 a.m. in the church when there is the opportunity to discuss the sermon and raise any questions with Campbell. All welcome. On Wednesday the Prayer Group meet at 1 p.m. in the lesser hall.
Larbert Old Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The Playgroup is for children from two years and upwards and runs on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.30-11.25 a.m. in Larbert Old Parish Church (Larbert Cross). On Sunday, October 5, the morning service will commence at 11.15 a.m. in Larbert High School. The speaker will be Lindsay Bruce from Hope For Justice. Teas and coffees will be available from 10.30-11 a.m. Big Fun Day Sunday will also be on for children aged 4-11 starting at 11 a.m. The evening service will commence at 6.15 p.m. in the church on Broomage Avenue and the speaker will be Pastor Michael Rollo.

The October Dobbie Hall Craft fair will be held on Saturday, October 11 with free admission from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. On sale will be a selection of good quality hand made goods from jewellery, fused glass, cards, dolls and teddy bears, wooden goods, knitted baby clothes to novelty hats, sweets and others with something to keep the youngsters busy at the children’s craft corner and the chance to take a break at the tea bar manned by the team from Vale of Carron Rotary club.
Harvest Thanksgiving Family Service will be held on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. led by Rev. Melville Crosthwaite. This year our harvest gifts will go to The Salvation Army soup kitchen. Donations of dried goods used for making soup (pulses, stock cubes, beans, tinned tomatoes etc) would be appreciated. The Young Church meet in the halls before the service and crèche is held in the Session Room. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be served in the hall after the service and the Traidcraft Stall will be there too. The Banner and Craft Group meet in the Session Room on Monday at 2.30 p.m. The Women’s Group meet on Tuesday in the large hall at 7.30 p.m. when the subject will be the Helix Project. All welcome. A sale of children’s clothes takes place in the Upper Room on a Thursday morning from 9.15-10.45 a.m. Entry is through the Church Hall back door. Weekday Worship is held in the Church at 11.15 a.m. on a Thursday morning. This is a short service and everyone is made very welcome.
Tryst Community Church will meet in Tryst Community Centre, Park Drive, Stenhousemuir on Sunday at 10 a.m. for a Communion Service. This service will be led by Bill Davidson. There will be time for tea/coffee after the service. We will also meet in the centre on Tuesday at 8.15 p.m. for Prayer Time. All welcome.
