Zumba with Carol continues at the Dobbie Hall on Thursdays 7-8 p.m. and also class at Carrongrange School on Tuesdays 7-8 p.m. Zumba Gold with Carol continues at the Dobbie Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays 11-11.45 a.m. This class is suitable for beginners to exercise, active older participants or those seeking a slower paced lower impact zumba class.
The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. until noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday through to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11 a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11 a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.
The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday between 8.15-9 p.m.
Toddlers, Tots and Twos meet at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue every Thursday. The facility is for 0-3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. Stenhousemuir Bowling Club celebrates its 150th birthday next year and is currently fund raising to give the Church Street premises a complete makeover before the event. To this end a bumper prize bingo goes ahead in the clubhouse on Wednesday, November 26, at 7, for 7.30.p.m. Tickets, priced £1, are available from the bar and players should take along a cup.
The award winning Tryst Theatre promises outrageous five-star X rated hilarity with their new play at the Dobbie Hall in early December. ‘Bouncers’ by John Godber, is the high energy tale of one Friday night in a Northern nightclub, with the non-stop action focusing on the exploits of four thuggish doormen and their drunken customers. In the tatty glamour, loud music and flashing lights of the seedy club we meet the smooth talking DJ, the lager swilling lads, the lipsticked, lacquered girls, the late-night kebab man and many more. In all the four actors play over fifty different characters. Fast, frantic and fantastically funny, ‘Bouncers’ – which has strong language – will be staged in the Dobbie Hall from December 8-10 at 7.30 p.m. nightly. In 2015 a new Maggie’s Centre will open in the grounds of Forth Valley Hospital. Maggie’s Centres give emotional, financial and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends. Campbell Barrowman, a local artist, has advanced prostate cancer. His wife Fiona and son are regular users of the Maggie’s Centre, Edinburgh. In appreciation for the support they have received, he has donated a large framed print of St. Andrews to raffle for Maggie’s Forth Valley. Tickets are £1. There are now only a few tickets available and can be bought at the Clydesdale Bank, Hallam Road, Stenhousemuir where the draw will take place on December 3 at 2 p.m.
Rotary Club of Vale of Carron President Jill Dewar welcomed members and guest, Rotarian Alistair Neilson, to a business meeting in the Plough Hotel, Stenhousemuir. Following the meal and chat members dealt with a full agenda. The recent ASDA bag pack donated £734 for local causes including Strathcarron Hospice. Rotarian Gerry Dewar ensured the event went smoothly and ASDA staff were most helpful. The Santa Sleigh Christmas Collection will run from December 1 in the Denny /Bonnybridge areas and will be spread over two weeks for the first time. Rotarian Colin Mather briefed on preparations which include brightening up the sleigh. Monies raised will go to Strathcarron Hospice, The Driving Force, Denny and Falkirk Foodbank. Look out for posters soon. As part of ongoing Club development Rotarian Ken Drummond PHF spoke of his recent activities producing promotional material.

The Rotary Club of Larbert in conjunction with Larbert East Church are hosting a gala concert by the internationally acclaimed Phoenix Choir in Larbert East Church on Saturday, 15 November. Sponsored by The Co-operative Funeralcare, and with all proceeds being split between the church and the Rotary club, tickets are now on sale priced £8 and are available from the Steeple Box Office or from club members.
The lodge was well represented at the war memorial at the Dobbie hall on Sunday, November 9. It was an honor to be with the other groups which included many school children from local schools. President Ronnie Laing PHF welcomed members to last Wednesday’s meeting at Carmuirs Golf Club. After dinner, final preparations were discussed for the forthcoming Phoenix Choir concert that the club is staging in conjunction with Larbert East Church. Grant Alexander then introduced the evenings speaker, Zander Caven who gave a presentation that showcased his collection of photographs of Larbert through the years. Zander enthralled his audience with anecdotes that had been shared with him by those who had sent him copies of photographs to add to his collection. This now stands at over 2000 photos. After questions, Andrew Gillespie PHF gave the vote of thanks. Lively walks in Larbert are full of friendly faces, who enjoy the scenery on serveral different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. leave from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower walk (average 30 minutes) both finishing in the cafe afterwords. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30 minute (average) walk or brisker one hour walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk.
