Zumba Classes

Zumba with Carol at the Dobbie Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays 7-8 p.m. Please note that tonight’s class will be at Carrongrange School (next to Larbert High) due to election. Zumba Gold at the Dobbie Hall on Tuesdays and Thursdays 11-11.45 a.m. Please note there will be no class on Thursday, May 7 due to election.

Old Playgroup

Larbert Old Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The playgroup is for children from two years and upwards and runs on a Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 9.30-11.25 a.m. in Larbert Old Parish Church (Larbert Cross). Salvation Army

On Sunday mornings Cornerstone Full Gospel Church meet from 10.30 a.m. to noon run by Pastor Alex Paton. From 2.30-3.30 p.m. is Sunday Worship led by Major John McCaffrey. On Mondays from 1.55-3 p.m. is Home League, led by Major John McCaffrey. Tuesdays from 10-11 a.m. is Headway Falkirk’s Memory Group for people who have a head injury and memory problems. At 7-8 p.m. is the Joint Prayer Meeting. Every Friday from 10 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. is coffee morning. Every second Saturday of the month we hold a men’s breakfast from 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. And the third Saturday of the month we hold a woman’s breakfast at the same times. Grace Church

Services this coming Sunday in Carrongrange School are at 10.30 a.m. and at 6 p.m. Grace Kids also meet at 10.30 a.m. The weekly Prayer Meeting will be held this Thursday at 7.45 p.m. in the Dawson Mission. All are warmly invited to these services. Generate, for teenagers of school age, meets this Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Dawson Mission.

Stenhouse & Carron

The service on Sunday is at 11.15 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Bill Denholm. The Young Church (Sunday School) meet during the service and new members are always welcome. The popular Wednesday Welcome awaits you in the hall on Wednesday mornings at 10 a.m. All are welcome to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the minister’s thought for the day.

Larbert West

The Joint Christian Aid Coffee Morning with St Bernadette’s is on Saturday from 10 a.m. until noon. Tickets £3 and quiz sheets £1 are on sale now. All welcome. The service on Sunday at 10.30 a.m. will be conducted by Bill Black and Brian Dick of Gideon’s International. Creche and Sunday Club facilities for all children. Refreshments and fellowship in the hall after the service. From 4-6 p.m. there is a Messy Church service of fun, games, activities and worship, culminating with a meal for all. All welcome to either/both services. On Wednesday the Prayer Group meet at 1 p.m. in the lesser hall.

Larbert Old

A very warm invitation to worship in Larbert Old Church on Sunday, May 10, at 11 a.m, when the service will be led by Rev. John Brown. Crèche and Children’s Activities will be provided in the hall. On Saturday, May 9, in Larbert West Hall, from 10 a.m. to noon, there will be a Christian Aid Coffee Morning organised by St Bernadette’s, Larbert Old and Larbert West. Tryst Church

Tryst Community Church will meet in the Tryst Community Education Centre, Park Drive, Stenhousemuir on Sunday at 10 a.m. for Worship and Bible Teaching. The Bible Teaching will focus on ‘The Letter to the Church in Ephesus’ in Revelation 2, will be led by Bill Davidson and will be followed by tea/coffee. You will be made most welcome at this service. Car Boot

The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. till noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. Al Anon

A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. North Broomage

Bingo continues on Monday, Thursday and Saturday evenings at 7 p.m. The club is available for hire to accommodate birthday parties, weddings etc. and further information is available by calling the club after 6 p.m. on (01324) 552685.

East Playgroup

Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11 a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11 a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.

Badmonton Club

The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday between 8.15-9 p.m.

Toddler Group

Toddlers, tots and Twos meets at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue every Thursday. The facility is for 0-3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. Aerobics Class

Ochilview Bar

A former favourite of the old Warriors Club has resumed and bingo will take place every Friday when eyes-down is at 8 p.m. prompt. Meanwhile, every Sunday at 3 p.m. a domino competition goes ahead when the winner takes home a steak pie and runner-up a quarter bottle of spirits. Entry is £1 and monies raised go to charity. Tonight, Thursday, the quiz goes on as usual in the lounge 8 p.m. Entry is £1 and winning team takes all. The Play Your Cards Right game also features on the same evening.

Barbershop Singing

Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) when new members will be made most welcome. Larbert Bowling

A prize bingo goes ahead at the club tonight, (Thursday), with eyes down at 7.30 p.m. Entry is £1 payable at the door. Please bring a cup. This Saturday, meanwhile, another cabaret goes ahead when Lorraine Summers entertains. Admission is £6 and the evening, 8.30 p.m. until midnight, includes bingo. The club would be happy to accommodate new members and information is available from members or at the clubrooms. Cash bingo goes ahead every Monday at 7.30 p.m. in the club’s Pretoria Road premises.

Walking Football

Stenhousemuir FC Community Development Director, Jamie Kirk, would be delighted to hear from anyone over 50 wishing to enjoy a new initiative at the club. Walking Football goes ahead at Ochilview every Monday at 10 a.m. and given running with the ball is out of bounds it is ideal for those who feel they would benefit from a gentler form of the game as well as enjoying the social aspect. Currently celebrating its 150th season when all games will be played at home, the club would be delighted to welcome new members at the Church Street green. Forms are available at the bar and the entry fee has been reduced to half price at the present time.

Larbert East

On Sunday, the morning service is at 10.30 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Melville Crosthwaite and Ms Anne White, OLM Student in Training when we will also celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism. The Young Church meet in the halls before the service and crèche is held in the Session Room. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be available in the hall after the service and the Traidcraft Stall will also be there. On Tuesday, the Prayer Group meet in the Session Room at 6.30 p.m. A sale of children’s clothes is held in the Upper Room on a Thursday morning from 9.15 until 10.45 a.m. Entry is through the back door of the church hall. Weekday Worship is at the usual time of 11.15 a.m. on a Thursday morning. All welcome. Advance notice is given of the Christian Aid Coffee Morning to be held in the large hall on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m. until noon. Donations welcomed but no bric-a-brac please. Entry £2.

Larbert Rotary

President Ronnie Laing welcomed members to the weekly club meeting at Carmuirs Golf club last Wednesday evening. After dinner, the club discussed the forthcoming fundraising event that will see ABBA tribute band Swede Dreamz make a welcome return to the Dobbie Hall Larbert on Saturday, June 13. Tickets priced £12 are now available from club members or from the Steeple Box Office. Ian Fraser then introduced the club’s newest member David Robb who gave a powerpoint presentation about his work with Co-operative Funeralcare. From his talk, it was clear that Dave was passionate about the service that his firm provides with sensitivity and dignity to families often at a very difficult time in their lives. Probus Club

On April 28, despite the all seasons weather, including snow, 34 members and guests of the Larbert & Stenhousemuir Probus Club enjoyed the 12 mile cruise aboard the Linlithgow Union Canal Society’s boat ‘The Saint Magdalene’. Leisurely travelling along the Union Canal from Linlithgow, passing over the Avon Aqueduct, on through the Falkirk Tunnel , down in the Wheel Locks, they finally arrived by way of the Wheel itself. Fellowship was enhanced with views of the wildlife, historically informative interludes and not least, sandwiches, hot scones and refreshing hot drinks. A fitting conclusion to a busy session, with resolve to begin again with a new 2015/16 syllabus on Tuesday, September 29.

Braveheart Walks

Lively walks in Larbert are full of friendly faces, who enjoy the scenery on several different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. we leave from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower 30 minute walk both finishing in the cafe afterwards. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30 minute walk or brisker one hour walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk. Vine Trust

A fashion show will be held on Sunday, May 24 at 1 p.m. in the Plough Hotel. Enjoy a two course lunch and Fashion Show by Frox at Falkirk and Dress to Impress. This is a fundraising event to help buy building materials for a work party going to Tanzania to build houses for vulnerable young people and orphans as a result of HIV/Aids.
