Walks leave every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower 30 minute walk both finishing in the cafe afterwards. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30minute walk or brisker 1hr walk, then meet everyone in the cafe after the walk. Services this coming Sunday in Carrongrange School are at 10.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The weekly prayer meeting will be held this Thursday at 7.45 p.m. in the Dawson Mission. All are warmly invited to these services. An extra meeting for elders takes place in the manse on Tuesday, April 14 at 7.30 p.m.
The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. till noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two.
A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The Playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday through to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30-11 a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11.a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.
The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday between 8.15-9 p.m.
Toddlers, Tots and Twos meets at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue every Thursday. The facility is for 0-3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. Every Sunday at 3 p.m. a domino competition goes ahead when the winner takes home a steak pie and runner-up a quarter bottle of spirits. Entry is £1 and monies raised go to charity. Tonight, Thursday, the quiz goes on as usual in the lounge 8 p.m. Entry is £1 and winning team takes all. The Play Your Cards Right game also features on the same evening.
Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) when new members will be made most welcome. On Saturday, the green opens for the 150th season. The club has undergone a complete refurbishment to commemorate the occasion and celebrations are planned for the week-end. Later in the month Falkirk Council recognises the historical landmark with a Civic Reception at the premises. Meanwhile, the club would be delighted to welcome new members at the Church Street green and forms are available at the bar. The entry fee has been reduced to half price at the present time.
Although there are no places available in the 62nd Larbert Scout Group’s beaver colony and cub pack, the group is able to accept a few younger scouts (ages 10 years six months to 12). The finals night and presentation of prizes of Larbert and District Domino Association went ahead at Larbert Bowling Club last Thursday. Secretary and Treasure Margaret Walker thanked the Pretoria Road Club for providing such an excellent spread and for their help in organising the event. The Association has been an important part of the community for decades, providing social interaction and friendship to thousands in the locality over the years and it is to be hoped it will continue to be supported well into the future. The prize winners were as follows: League winner – Joint winners Stenhousemuir and Burnhead Bowling Clubs: League Cup Winners – Burnhead Bowling Club: Doubles Winners – A.Greig and J. Nisbet (Cricket Club): Singles Winner –R. Brownlee (Cricket Club): Bud Hill Trophy – Larbert Bowling Club: McMillan Trophy – Burnhead Bowling Club.

During the morning service, last Sunday, Olivia Michelle Jane Henny, baby daughter of Andrew and Laura Henny and sister of Alfie and Charlie was welcomed into the family of the church through the Sacrament of Baptism. On Sunday, the morning service is at 10.30 a.m. led by the Rev. Melville Crosthwaite and Ms Anne White. The Young Church meet in the halls before the service and crèche is held in the Session Room. Tea/coffee and biscuits will be served in the hall after the service and the Traidcraft Stall will also be there. The Prayer Group meet in the Session Room on Tuesday at 6.30 p.m. The Deacon’s Court meet in the Small Hall on Wednesday at 7.15 p.m. Weekday Worship is held in the Church on a Thursday morning at 11.15 a.m. This is a short service and everyone is welcome.

The Sacrament of Holy Communion will be celebrated during the service on Sunday at 11.15 a.m. The worship will be conducted by Rev. Bill Thomson. The Young Church (Sunday School) meet during the service and new members are always welcome. The Wednesday Welcome is in the hall on Wednesdays at 10 a.m. All are welcome to have a chat over a cup of tea or coffee and listen to the minister’s thought for the day.

Tryst Community Church will meet in Tryst Community Education Centre, Park Drive, Stenhousemuir, on Sunday at 10 a.m. for a Communion Service. On March 31, Larbert & Stenhousemuir Probus Club supported the National Lifeboat Institution by presenting a cheque to Mr Tom Robertson, MBE, the Chairman of the Queensferry Lifeboat Management Committee, after he gave the 27 members present an illustrated presentation on the RNLI. The next meeting in the Larbert Bowling Club on Tuesday at 2 p.m. will be the club AGM. The treasurer will also collect money for tickets for the day-out on the Union Canal on Tuesday, April 28. A good attendance is requested to ensure all willing can be included in the arrangements proposed for next session.
