Grace Church

Services this coming Easter Sunday in Carrongrange School are at 10.30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The morning service will be a family Easter celebration. The weekly Prayer Meeting will be held this Maundy Thursday at 7.45 p.m. in the Dawson Mission and will include celebration of Holy Communion. All are warmly invited to these services.

Stenhosue & Carron

Holy Week services continue tonight (Thursday) with the Maundy Thursday Communion Service in the hall at 7.30 p.m. with Rev. Bill Thomson. The Good Friday service is at 7.30 p.m. and will be conducted by Rev. Andrew Moore of Bothkennar and Carronshore Church. The Easter Sunday Celebration Family Service is at 11.15 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Bill Thomson. The Young Church (Sunday School) meet during the service and new members are always welcome. The popular Wednesday Welcome will resume on Wednesday, April 15.

Tryst Church

Tryst Community Church are hosting Easter Explained at the cross in the town centre beside the cows. Good Friday at 4 p.m. will be ‘Reflection at the Cross’. During all day Saturday there will be the opportunity to place a free daffodil on the Cross as a symbol of new life and to enjoy a hot-cross bun. On Easter Sunday at 9.30 a.m. there will be a short Easter Service at the Cross followed by breakfast in the Tryst Centre, Park Drive, Stenhousemuir. You will also be most welcome to an informal time with refreshments on Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in the Tryst Centre, when there will be an opportunity to discuss and explore the Christian faith. Larbert West

On Sunday there is an Easter Daybreak Service at 8.00 a.m. on the area adjoining the west of the church (indoors if weather is inclement). Easter Morning Service including the Sacrament of Holy Communion is at 10.30 a.m. Creche and Sunday Club facilities for all children and both services will be conducted by Rev. Dr Campbell Campbell-Jack. Refreshments and fellowship in the hall after the second service. All welcome. On Tuesday The Guild hold their Annual Business Meeting in the Tryst Golf Club at 7 for 7.30 p.m. (Originally scheduled for last week). The Prayer Group meet on Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the lesser hall and the Congregational Board meet there at 7.30 p.m.

Larbert East

On Sunday, the Easter Family Service will be led by the Rev. Melville Crosthwaite and Ms Anne White, OLM Student in Training. We will also celebrate the Sacrament of Baptism at the end of the service. The Young Church will meet in the halls before the service and Crèche is held in the Session Room. Tea/coffee will be served in the hall after the service and the Traidcraft Stall will also be there. On Monday, the Banner and Craft Group meet at 2.30 p.m. in the Session Room. Kidz Clothes Broker have a sale of children’s clothes in the Upper Room on a Thursday morning from 9.15-10.45 a.m.

Weekday Worship

Led by the Rev. Melville Crosthwaite is held in Larbert East Church today (Thursday) at 11.15 a.m. This is a Maundy Thursday Communion Service. which will be slightly longer than usual but still ideal for those who cannot get to the church on Sundays. There will be tea/coffee, hot cross buns and time for a chat at the close of the service. All welcome.

Car Boot

The Dobbie Hall car boot sale takes place every Wednesday from 8.30 a.m. till noon and pitches cost £6 for one and £9 for two. For hall and pitch bookings call (01324) 570450.

AA Meeting

A meeting of the above takes place every Friday in Larbert Old Church Hall at 8 p.m. The meetings allow people to share experiences and gain advice on coping with family members suffering from alcoholism. North Broomage

East Playgroup

Larbert East Playgroup has vacancies for new members. The playgroup is for children of two years six months and upwards and runs on Tuesday through to Friday at Larbert East Church from 9.20-11 a.m. There is also a Monday Twos club from 9.30- 11 a.m. and a Toddlers Group goes ahead on a Wednesday from 9.30-11 a.m. Anyone interested in joining any of these groups will be welcomed at the church at the above times.

Badminton Club

The club meets in the games hall at Larbert High School every Monday from 8.15-9 p.m.

Toddler Group

Toddlers Tots and Twos meets at Larbert Pentecostal Church in Broomage Avenue every Thursday. The facility is for 0–3 year olds and has a dedicated baby corner. It runs on Thursday mornings between 9.30-11 a.m. The cost is £1 per child and includes snacks. A warm welcome awaits and for further information call Alison on 07983 534424.

Aerobics Class

Ochilview Bar

Every Sunday at 3.p.m. a domino competition goes ahead when the winner takes home a steak pie and runner-up a quarter bottle of spirits. Entry is £1 and monies raised go to charity. Tonight, Thursday, the quiz goes on as usual in the lounge 8 p.m. Entry is £1 and winning team takes all. The Play Your Cards Right game also features on the same evening.

Barbershop Singing

Sweet Harmony Barbershop Chorus meets for practice every Tuesday at 7.30 p.m. in Larbert East Church Hall (Kirk Wynd) when new members will be made most welcome. Buddhism Meeting

Practitioners of Nichiren Bhuddism meet once a month in the Rotary Hall, Larbert – next to the Dobbie – and anyone with an interest is welcome to attend. Further information is available on website www.sgi-uk.org

Larbert Bowling

Members should note that all fees must be paid by next Monday, April 6, and the club looks forward to seeing all members when the season opens on Saturday, April 11. Dance/cabaret evenings continue on Friday, April 10, when Gold Retro provides the music. Tickets are £5 and can be booked at the bar. Meanwhile, the club would be happy to accommodate new members and information is available from members or at the clubrooms. Cash bingo goes ahead every Monday at 7.30 p.m. in the club’s Pretoria Road premises.

Walking Football

Stenhousemuir F.C. Community Development Director, Jamie Kirk, would be delighted to hear from anyone over 50 wishing to enjoy a new initiative at the club. Walking Football goes ahead at Ochilview every Monday morning at 10.a.m. and given running with the ball is out of bounds it is ideal for those who feel they would benefit from a gentler form of the game as well as enjoying the social aspect. Stenhousemuir Bowling

Saturday, April 11, is the start of Stenhousemuir Bowling Club’s 150th season when the green opens and later in the month Falkirk Council is commemorating the landmark with a Civic Reception. Meanwhile, the club would be delighted to welcome new members at the Church Street green and forms are available at the bar. The entry fee has been reduced to half price at the present time.

Larbert Scouts

Although there are no places currently available in the 62nd Larbert Scout Group’s beaver colony and cub pack, the group is able to accept a few younger scouts (ages 10 years six months to 12). The troop meets every Friday evening at the Larbert Cross Scout Hall and anyone interested should contact George Clark on 07718 298199 or at georgeclark98@btinternet.com.

Ceilidh Dancing

Do you enjoy Ceilidh dancing? Then come along on April 25 to the Dobbie Hall and join in the SNP Tryst Branch Spring Ceilidh. A great night with John McNally speaking, live ceilidh band and buffet included, in the price of the ticket. Carron Rotary

President-Elect Ken Drummond welcomed Rotary Club of Vale of Carron members and guests Sarah Tough, Alistair Neilson, Janice Neilson and Colin Flinn to the weekly meeting at the Plough Hotel, Stenhousemuir. After the meal PE Ken introduced Colin Flinn, Head of Fundraising for Poppyscotland, who showed us how vulnerable ex-service men and women in need find help and support throughout the year. Colin was warmly thanked by Rotarian Colin Mather. Lodge Carron

The Lodge welcomed Lodge Dolphin 911 who came and conferred the Entered apprentice degree on one candidate on March 25. After the ceremony two long service awards were made to Brother Robert Stuart (65 years) and Brother Shearer Hendry (60 years). An excellent harmony followed. The Lodge then went to Lodge Callendar 588 on March 30 for a Fellowcraft degree. The busy period continues with two further fellowcraft degrees at Lodge Carron 139 on Wednesday, April 8 and Thursday, April 9 at Lodge Barns O’ Clyde 1018. Bus leaves the Lodge at 6.30 p.m.

Larbert Old

Braveheart Walks

Lively walks in Larbert are full of friendly faces, who enjoy the scenery on several different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m. eave from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a slower 30 minute walk both finishing in the cafe afterwards. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, again you can join a slower 30 minute walk or brisker one hour walk, where you can meet everyone in the cafe after your walk.
