Stenhousemuir Salvation Army Community Church gives a warm welcome all. Meetings are Cornerstone Full Gospel Church Sunday worship from 10.30 a.m. to noon. Monday Home League will be off on Easter Monday. Lodge Carron 139 will confer the Mark Master Mason degree in Lodge Dolpin 911 tomorrow (Friday)and at Lodge St John Falkirk 16 on Tuesday, April 22. RWM William Campbell is expecting a good turnout of brethren to support their Mother Lodge. In between there is a General committee meeting on April 21 at 7.30 p.m.
Visit the folks from Tryst Community Church at the Easter Cross in the town centre on Good Friday from 3 p.m. or during all of Saturday, when we will be attaching flowers to the Cross as a symbol of New Life. Join the church on Easter Sunday at the Cross at 9.30 a.m. for Easter songs and a brief Easter thought and then back to the Tryst Community Centre for breakfast.
President Jean Geddes welcomed members and visiting Rotarian Roger Salvesen from the Rotary Club of Grangemouth to a meeting in the Plough Hotel, Stenhousemuir, of the Rotary Club of Vale of Carron. After an enjoyable meal and fellowship president Jean intimated that some unexpected business required immediate discussion. The presentation by Rotarian Graham McGregor on his work in Lesotho was postponed. Later, president elect Jill Dewar gave a short update on the prize bingo fundraiser on May 22. Rotarian Roger thanked the members for their hospitality and described his involvement with Prostate Cancer UK which is participating in the Charities Fun Day on April 26. Many other organisations and charities, along with entertainers, have reserved a place ‘beside the Coos’ at the event in Stenhousemuir. President Martin Nicol welcomed members and Rotarian visitors from the Whitburn Club to last Wednesday’s meeting at Carmuirs Golf Club. After dinner, members were updated on arrangements for the forthcoming Rotary Golf Tournament and also the charity concert featuring Swede Dreamz, the UK’s leading Abba tribute band. The concert in aid of Strathcarron Hospice, will be held in the Dobbie Hall on Saturday, June 14 with tickets, priced £12, now available from Rotary club members. Martin Scott then introduced the evening’s speakers, Commandant Andrea Penman, Luke O’Hanlon and Joanne Penman from St Andrews First Aid who delivered a presentation informing Rotarians of the activities to be undertaken by the newly formed Cadet Section. The Holy Week services continue tonight (Thursday) with the Maundy Thursday communion service in the hall at 7.30 p.m. with Rev. Bill Thomson of Stenhouse & Carron Church. Good Friday service at 7.30 p.m. with Rev. Melville Crosthwaite of Larbert East Church. The Easter Sunday family service is at 11.15 a.m. and will be led by Rev. Bill Thomson. There will be no Wednesday Welcome this week.
Everyone is warmly welcome to the services on Sunday at Carrongrange School at 10.30 a.m. for Easter Day Family Service and again at 6 p.m. During the morning service there is also a crèche provided. Tea and coffee are served after each service. The prayer meeting will be held in the Dawson Mission on Thursday at 7.45 p.m. Next meeting of Christianity Explored is on April 22 and the Men’s Bible Study Dinner is on April 30 at Carronvale. Bible studies will resume after Easter.
On Sunday there is an Easter Day Breakfast Service at 8 a.m,and at 10.30 a.m. there is Easter Morning worship with Sacrament of Holy Communion, both services being conducted by Rev. Dr Campbell Campbell-Jack who continues to provide pastoral care (01324) 832011. Creche and Sunday Club facilities for all children. Refreshments in the hall after the later service. All welcome to both services. The Guild meet on Tuesday at 07 p.m. for a theme/topic night. On Wednesday the Prayer Group meet at 1 p.m. in the lesser hall and at 7.30 p.m. the Kirk Session meet there.
On Easter Sunday, the morning service is at 10.30 a.m. led by Rev. Melville Crosthwaite and Mrs Isabelle McMillan, Reader in Training. The Young Church meet as usual in the halls before the service. Crèche is held in the Session Room. Tea/coffee will be served in the hall after the service and the Traidcraft Stall will also be there. On Tuesday, the Prayer Group meet in the Session Room at 6.30 p.m. Weekday Worship is held in the church on a Thursday morning at 11.15 a.m. All welcome.
Our more popular walks in Larbert are full of welcoming faces, who enjoy the scenery on several different routes around this area. Every Tuesday, 10.30 a.m we leave from FVRH, where there is a choice of an hour walk, or a shorter 30 minute walk, both finishing in the cafe afterwords. Also a Friday 10.30 a.m. walk, leaving from Stenhousemuir shopping centre, when again you can join everyone in the cafe after your walk. For more information call (01324) 673703.
The summer outing to Carlisle is on Thursday, May 22 and is open to all over 60s who are resident in Larbert or Stenhousemuir. Buses leave from Robertson Court at 10 a.m. Tickets costing £10 each will be on sale in the Age Concern hall from 10 a.m. until noon on Monday, April 21, and from 2-4 p.m. on Wednesday April 23.
