Hundreds packed into City Nightclub on Sunday to see 17-year-old schoolboy Colet Selwyn named as the Falkirk Herald Voice of 2011.
The expert panel of judges were blown away with the talented singer’s rendition of ‘Happy Rhythm’ and he walked off with £200 prize money and the coveted title.
Colet, a pupil at Larbert High, surprised the judges with his deep, soulful voice and Michael Jackson inspired dance moves and prompted judge Tom Urie to say he has a long and successful career ahead of him.
Chris Judge, a singing coach who provided support to all 10 finalists, added: “You should have seen the judges faces when you started singing, it was just incredible.
“No one expected you to sound like that and your stage presence and confidence is fantastic. It’s really hard to believe you are only 17 as your voice is so mature.”
