A proposal involving Deep Sea World, a diver, a shark tank and weeks of planning went swimmingly for a Larbert lad.
Stuart Reilly (26) took his girlfriend Jenna Cassidy (23) to Deep Sea World in North Queensferry for what appeared to be a normal day out with friends and family.
He said: “We had our first date in Deep Sea World five and a half years ago, so thought it was the best place to pop the question.
“I wanted to do a bit more than get down on one knee though.”
Stuart spoke to the visitor attraction and staff were more than happy to help him with his surprise proposal.
He said: “One day I told Jenna I was working, however I had to go to Deep Sea World and meet the diver and go through what was to happen.”
Jenna, of Laurieston, is in her second year of her retail marketing degree at Stirling University and due to work commitments struggles to get weekends off so Stuart had to invite family from England to ensure it was a big enough occasion for her to take holidays.
As the divers finished their show in the tank with sharks and stingrays, it was Stuart’s turn to take the plunge.
The oil company worker said: “The diver picked up a sign hidden in the sand, saying ‘JC will you marry me’.”
Thankfully Jenna said yes and their parents came out from hiding round the corner so they could see the look on her face.
Katie MacFarlane, Deep Sea World’s visitor services supervisor, said: “I’m not sure who was more nervous, Stuart or myself and the team!”
