Golf club bosses tried to persuade councillors to allow them to build houses on part of their land at a site visit on Monday.
Glenbervie Golf Club in Larbert wants to build four homes on woodland close to the 17th tee, near the A9.
Council officials say it should be refused because this type of development is against council policy.
Falkirk Council’s planning committee, chaired by Baillie Billy Buchanan heard objections from Alastair Cruickshank , whose home will be 10 metres from the proposed development. He said the proposal was not on the Local Plan.
He added that he finds between five and eight golf balls in his garden each week and the new homes would also be at risk.
Golf club committee chairman John McCabe said the land was surplus to requirements and the capital generated would allow them to invest and carry out improvements. He added: “There are houses at the development boundary, the affect on the countryside will be minimal.”
Members will decide on June 26.
