Grangemouth residents were concerned by the increase in noise coming from the Ineos petrochemical site on Monday night.

However, an Ineos spokesman stated the flaring was routine and a result of one of the firm’s plants being restarted after undergoing a planned maintenance programme.

Last week the site was in the news after butane gas was found to be leaking at the premises, leading to safety concerns from union bosses.
