IN PICTURES: Nights get brighter after Grangemouth Christmas lights switch-on

Grangemouth is lit up most nights courtesy of the petrochemical industry but the town got even brighter on Saturday.

The big Christmas lights switch on took place on and around the town centre’s band stand in La Porte Precinct as crowds gathered together at tea-time to see Baillie Joan Paterson join Grangemouth Children’s Day Queen Kirsty Gallagher and good old Father Christmas himself to turn on the festive illuminations.

Shoppers and visitors were able to enjoy a Christmas market and a myriad of entertainment in the run up to the switch on, including the cool acrobatics of Central Super Heroes and the Q20 Theatre performing songs from Disney’s world wide phenomenon Frozen.
