A horrific hit and run left Steven Ballantyne with two shattered ankles and his right leg broken in eight places.

The 20-year-old Forth Valley College student, who also works at McDonald’s Restaurant, is a keen footballer and is still recovering from his ordeal at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.

The Falkirk Herald visited Steven’s family in Grangemouth on Tuesday but they declined to comment on the events that happened in Tweed Street on Saturday, October 25.

Police investigating the incident confirmed they arrested Akib Rehman Sharief Aslam (21), Stenhousemuir, who made no plea or declaration at Falkirk Sheriff Court yesterday (Wednesday) and was released on bail.

His next appearance date is to be confirmed.
