Singing schoolboy Daniel Louis had a very special good luck charm when he was named The Falkirk Herald’s Voice of 2012.
He proudly wore a scarf belonging to his late father who died when the Stenhousemuir youngster was just six.
Sunday evening’s winning performance at the final in City Nightclub, Falkirk, came on the day his parents would have celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary.
The talented 12-year-old sang ‘Hallelujah’, the same lyrics he had recorded two months ago for a poignant Mother’s Day gift after mum Margaret said it was her favourite.
Speaking through tears at her son’s success, she said: “I just couldn’t believe it. He’s such a thoughtful boy but this is amazing.
“Daniel has been the man-of-the-house since his dad died and I’m so proud of him. I can’t believe he has won today of all days.”
Egyptian-born Emad was just 48 when he died in January 2006 after an illness. A consultant gynaecologist, he had met his wife when they both worked at Falkirk Royal Infirmary.
