Some of the 56 affordable council poperties at a brand new housing estate will start being let out to tenants in a matter of weeks.
Irish building firm O’Hare and McGovern Ltd began work on the £5.3 million development, partly funded by the Scottish Government, at the former Grangemouth High School site in Tinto Drive last June and it is now nearing completion.
A Falkirk Council spokesman said: “We estimate work will be completed in October. The site will be handed over in four stages with the first phase of property allocation taking place in late August.
“The properties suitable for general needs housing will be advertised for existing council tenants in the first instance, in line with our allocations policy. The properties on the ground floor are designed to barrier-free standards and will be advertised as adapted properties.
“We confirm these properties have been built for letting by the council, and none are for sale on the open market.”
Of the 56 properties on the, as yet, unnamed estate, 36 are two-bedroom ground floor and first floor flats, 12 are three/four bedroom villas and eight are three/four bedroom ground and first floor flats.
