Sporty residents will be able to enjoy a new fitness centre thanks to Falkirk Community Trust.

The unit in Stenhousemuir will be twice the size of the gym in Grangemouth Sports
Centre and have the latest machines and equipment, a studio for classes and free parking.

It will be in a vacant unit in the town centre, next to the Strathcarron Furniture shop, and is scheduled for opening next year, subject to planning approval being given.

Ian Scott, chairman of Falkirk Community Trust, said: “We want to improve the general health of the local community which we believe is currently under provided for.

“We saw the potential of the Stenhousemuir site which offered us the right location at the right time and we are confident that the community will be fully supportive of the project.”

The Trust currently operate gyms in Grangemouth, Bo’ness and The Mariner sports centres and the investment comes as the three existing sites reported a huge increase in users for the pools, gyms and fitness classes.

The project will be delivered in partnership with Falkirk Council, with the local authority providing the capital. Profits will be split between the two.
