A Larbert hospital A&E doctor is going to Sierra Leone to help in the fight against Ebola.
Dr Roger Alcock, an NHS Forth Valley consultant in emergency medicine, has volunteered to join other medics in a multi-million pound aid package to combat the deadly virus.
He said: “This is a medical humanitarian crisis and urgent medical help is required. It is important that we control and contain the virus to prevent its spread outwith West Africa.
“I have the training and experience to be able to go to Sierra Leone and have received tremendous support from colleagues, friends and family.”
Dr Alcock’s mission will use three weeks of annual leave and he hopes to return to Scotland at the end of December.
