Caring for older members of our communities isn’t something that’s on everyone’s agenda, but it’s lifeblood of one group based in the Bainsford and Carron areas.

The Sofia Project (Sharing Opportunities Friendship Involvement & Activities) is a local charity serving the communities of Langlees, Bainsford and Newcarron and is managed by Carron Connect Partnership.

The group’s raison d’etre is to provide healthy activities for residents aged 55 and over and the partnership and its members consulted with older people to deliver the activities they want to do.

These include regular tea and lunch dances, bus trips and prize bingos with plans for a bigger range of stuff to keep people entertained in the pipeline such as exercise and dance classes.

The group is open to anyone in its age group and volunteers are also welcome go along and help out running the events and fundraising.
