The much-loved Barony Players theatre group is celebrating its 60th year this month with a special visit from one of Scotland’s most renowned actors.
On July 27 and 28, as part of the group’s birthday celebrations, David Hayman will perform ‘The Pitiless Storm’, the show he is taking to the Fringe Festival this year.
The Barony Players were a group of drama enthusiasts formed in 1954 with the aim of establishing a theatre of their own having previously preformed under different names.
Ten years after forming they secured their own home in Borrowstoun Road, the old Borrowstoun Primary School, and transformed it into a theatre within two years.
Many of the founder members are still involved with the group, which is a great starting place for amateur dramatic enthusiasts who want to tread the boards or learn the ropes behind the scenes in production.
The group’s is currently working on its next show ‘A Christmas Carol’.
