Conserving and enhancing the natural environment of Polmont Woods and its surrounding habitat is a task one group likes to get stuck in to.

Polmont Woodlands Group has been formed to raise levels of community awareness of the amenity value of the woods as a recreational resource for local residents.

Other aspects of the work volunteers undertake is to ensure that the section of the Antonine Wall World Heritage Site within Polmont Woods is conserved and that the community awareness of its historical significance is raised.

Secretary Michael Stuart said: “We also aim to promote and encourage the responsible use of the woodland as an educational resource to local schools, local community groups and the greater communities of Polmont and Falkirk.”

Works are currently being within Polmont Woods as part of an award from IFLI (Inner Forth Landscape Initiative) with a view to improving access and visibility of the Antonine Wall within the woodland.
