There are many ways to keep fit and active and there are probably even more classes in the Falkirk district to attend that will help you.

One of them is the Falkirk Metafit class in Larbert’s Dobbie Hall. Metafit is an intense 30-minute workout which helps people burn fat even when they aren’t working out and it’s not something you’ll find on a DVD as it’s only taught by qualified coaches in the flesh. It was created by a former Royal Marine Commando and combines traditional bodyweight exercises with the latest high intensity interval training techniques, which is said to “set the metabolism on fire”.

Exercises such as squat thrusts, press-ups and burpees are done in short bursts as fast as you can manage them, pushing your body to the absolute limit.

This is done for half an hour until your body can’t take any more and you have reached the point of exhaustion. This causes an “afterburn” which keeps the metabolism working for up to 36 hours after a class.
