Have your say

You don’t need to own a pair of cowboy boots or a stetson to enjoy line dancing – but you most definitely won’t look out of place if you do.

Instructor Helen Bang, from Bonnybridge, leads two classes each week in Bonnybridge St Helen’s church hall and Denny’s Broompark Centre.

She began line dancing while living in London in the 1990s, but has ran classes in the Falkirk district since 2009.

The mother-of-two says line dancing has remained popular as “you don’t need a partner, there are always new dances to learn and we don’t take ourselves too seriously.”

Helen stresses that her classes welcome people of all ages and all abilities – experience is most definitely not neccessary.

“We say in line dancing that there’s no mistakes, just variations,” she added.

Her classes also feature much more than country n’ western songs – the beauty of line dancing is that routines can be made up to almost any piece of popular music.
