Falkirk & District Art Club has been promoting the fine arts in the area for almost 50 years now and it’s still a very popular group among the aspiring artists and art lovers.
Created on January 15, 1965, the group will celebrate its 50th anniversary very soon, while the 60-strong members are always busy actively promoting the arts and creating their own masterpieces.
The art club is a self-help group where participants can glean help and guidance from other members and its weekly gatherings also provide a platform for individuals to improve their brush strokes and chat as well.
The ‘artshare’ evenings alternate with demonstrations and talks from prominent artists with Nicol Wheatley a recent visitor – one of the highlights of the year – and a wide spectrum of subjects are covered in a variety of mediums including painting and drawing.
The club’s main exhibition of work is held annually as part of Falkirk’s Tryst Festival in May each year and New members are always welcome.
