A much-loved Falkirk institution is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year and is planning to bring it in the celebrations with a bang.

Falkirk Caledonia Choir has been popular with local singers since it was first formed in 1924 and has been entertaining Bairns ever since.

The group is a mixed voice choir with around 70 loyal and talented members doing a varied repertoire of sacred, opera, Scottish, traditional and popular music, meeting weekly to fine tune their vocal chords.

President Mary McCann said: “This is a big year for the choir celebrating our 90th year. Rumour has it that some of our members have been here from the start.

“Our big show is our 90th Anniversary Gala Concert on April 30 in Falkirk Town Hall when singer/broadcaster Jamie McDougall will be our guest artist.

“If anyone would like to join us they would be most welcome and we’d like to see more male singers in the choir.”
