A new walking group has been added to the Step Forth Walks programme that is proving very “interesting” for participants.

The Carriden Step Forth Walking Group in Bo’ness was formed at the beginning of the summer and is becoming a popular pastime for
local residents eager to stay fit and active and learn a bit more about the area’s history.

There is a day and evening walk on alternate Wednesdays at 1.30pm and 7pm, leaving from Carriden Parish Church with the last evening walk being held on September 16.

Walk co-ordinator Barbara McConnell said: “This is a very interesting walk. Walk leaders know all about the local area and its history. One of the routes is along the John Muir Way which is really beautiful. We have had a lot of good feedback already from walkers, mostly saying that our walk leaders had a vast amount of information on the Carriden area. As well as the history of the area walkers, the fresh air and meeting other people, walkers can reminisce about the area.”
