A group which helps people with heart problems get back to good health is 10 years old.

The Braveheart Association organises weekly walks from most communities in the district and has been a stepping stone for hundreds of people looking to kickstart a healthier lifestyle.

While it’s aimed predominantly at those over the age of 55 with heart problems, anyone can join their local group.

Members of the Dawson group do their walk every Wednesday morning and is one of eight weekly walks. There is often a choice of walks from a short 30 minute one or a one hour walk with 13 walk leaders pointing walkers in the direction.

Walking development officer Eva Finlayson said: “We also have monthly walks which take place on the last Tuesday of each month. These walks are further afield throughout Forth Valley, and are normally between three to four miles long.

“Walkers say the main benefits of walking with Braveheart are that it keeps them active and the social aspect.
